How To Use The Weather Interface
Obtaining weather information is a five-step process.
- Move the mouse pointer to the inside of the (blank) text box and type one of the following:
- The @ sign and a two-letter state/province identifier, such as @TX.
- For Forecast Data or Other Data, SHOW will give a list of stations issuing reports.
A carriage return at this point (recommended for experienced users only) will immediately submit a data request.
- Select a time period by moving the mouse pointer to the Enter Time Period box (which initially says 0:Last) and pressing/holding the left button. Drag the mouse to the desired time period and release the left button. (This step is optional.)
- Select a data category by clicking on the appropriate diamond. The selected category is highlighted by a yellow diamond. (This step is optional.)
- Move the mouse pointer to the box next to the highlighted data category and press/hold the left button to Select a specific Data Type. (This step is optional.)
- Click on the Submit Request box.
The requested information will then (hopefully) be retrieved and displayed. The info remains in its original format, so you may wish to widen your mosaic window if some words are lost off the right
side of the screen.
